BUILDERS CARE PROVIDES A REFRESHING RELIEF Builders Care spent a week at the Youth Crisis Center, providing food and drinks to hundreds of volunteers at the roof-raising event for the new recreation building. The project is part of a three-building expansion named Touchstone Village. Transitional living facilities for kids ages 16-17 and an apartment unit for young adults ranging from 18-21, will allow the YCC to help make sure teens make a safe transition into adulthood. Many of the volunteers Builders Care provided hospitality for are members of the Northeast Florida Builders Association. Greg Matovina, owner of Matovina & Co., and project coordinator for Touchstone Village was grateful for the hospitality that Builders Care provided. "It was like an oasis for the volunteers. Whenever someone was hot or hungry, there was Builders Care providing shade, food and drinks. They played such a critical role," Matovina said. Matovina also said that he will count on Builders Care to get involved in future events at the YCC. Tom Patania, president of the YCC, was pleased to have Builders Care present for the entire week. "Builders Care was a Godsend because workers were hot and the service they provided kept us going. They parked their RV right at the worksite so workers and volunteers could have easy access to the refreshments and snacks," Patania said. The Youth Crisis Center is providing a special need at a critical time in young people's lives. "Thinking back to when I was 18, and thinking of my children who are between the ages of 18-21, I couldn't imagine being solely on my own at that age. My hat is off to them, and it was a pleasure to do our small part," said Bill Wilson, executive director for Builders Care. |
